West Town

Ms. Raquel, Head of School

Hello!
My name is Ms. Raquel, and I have been a proud member of the Children’s Learning Place family since 2016. What began as a role as a Toddler Teacher at our Bucktown location quickly grew into a journey of leadership, learning, and purpose. When our West Town center opened in 2017, I transitioned to help launch its Toddler Program, where I continued to grow as an educator and mentor.

Over the years, I dedicated myself to developing strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues—building the foundation for the leader I am today. After several years of cultivating my leadership skills, I stepped into the Director role, where I spent two years overseeing daily operations, guiding a dynamic team of educators, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

In January 2025, I was honored to advance into the role of Head of School, where I now lead with a vision shaped by nearly a decade of hands-on classroom experience and a deep commitment to supporting both children and educators. As a mentor and leader, I strive to inspire growth, encourage teamwork, and ensure that every child, family, and teacher feels valued and supported.

At the heart of my work is a belief that every child deserves an advocate, every family deserves a partner, and every teacher deserves a leader who champions their success.

A little about me: I am a proud wife and mother, and I find great joy in balancing family life with my passion for early childhood education. When I’m not at CLP, I enjoy reading and spending quality time with my loved ones.

As Head of School, my door is always open—whether for questions, feedback, or simply a conversation. Together, we’ll continue to make Children’s Learning Place a community where children thrive, families feel supported, and staff are empowered to reach their full potential.

Ms. Julissa, Director

Hello, my name is Ms. Julissa and I first joined our CLP family in 2012.  I started my career at our Bucktown location as an assistant teacher, then moved to lead teacher in our infant program.  As my experience grew, so did my opportunities with the company; after several years as the infant lead teacher, I moved up to lead a classroom of two year-olds while also taking on a “Manager on Duty” position.  This then lead to learning the ropes to become Assistant Director.  I am currently the Assistant Director of our brand new location here in West Town.  My goal as an educator: is to advocate for children, promote development & growth, and assist families with their child’s educational goals.

A little about me; I was born & raised in Chicago and after graduating from high school I spent some time in Puerto Rico for a few years before I returned to attend college.  As a child I wanted to be “just like my mom – a teacher”, and I have fulfilled that dream.  I would one day like to continue my education. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, cleaning and also spending time with my family and friends.

I look forward to working with the children, families and staff here at CLP West Town.  My “desk” is always open for questions, comments or concerns.
